Jame E. Strong, born on June 19, 1946 in Elmhurst Illinois to parents Ruth and William Strong, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024.

He was a beloved father, grandfather and friend who leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication and love.

Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970, where he was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam war as a medic.

In 1971 Jim married Margaret Strong and together they raised three children. He was a devoted father throughout his life. He is survived by his three children: Shannon Strong and her Husband Alex, Matt Strong and his wife Ivy and youngest daughter, Colleen Strong. Jim was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren.

After earning a BS in Environmental Science from the University of California Riverside, Jim worked at the university in the soils department from 1976 until his retirement in 2003.

Jim, our dad, was kind and loving and generous. He was a  man who made an impact in the lives of many. He was a jack of all trades and even mastered a few! He was funny, tenacious, thoughtful and is thoroughly missed by all of his family and friends.

A service in his honor will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 9:00 AM with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send donations to the wounded warrior project.
