Light & Power, the Disabilities Ministry of Trinity Church, is preparing to welcome the community to one of its most meaningful annual traditions: a prom created especially for teenagers and adults with disabilities, along with their caregivers and families. The event will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., on April 24, located at Trinity Church, 1551 Reservoir Road, Redlands.
Each year, this prom becomes far more than an evening of music and dancing. It is a celebration of belonging, joy, and shared community—an opportunity for guests to connect with friends, make new memories, and experience a night designed entirely with them in mind. For many families, it stands out as one of the most anticipated and uplifting gatherings of the year, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to creating spaces where every individual is welcomed, valued, and celebrated.
This year’s theme, Celebrating America, will bring festive touches throughout the evening, including snacks, a photo booth, and additional surprises intended to make the night unforgettable. The event is open to all, and there is no charge to attend, underscoring the ministry’s dedication to accessibility and inclusion.
Community events like this prom play an important role in San Bernardino County, where organizations serving individuals with developmental disabilities emphasize inclusion, connection, and opportunities for social engagement. The Inland Regional Center, which serves people with developmental disabilities, in both San Bernardino and Riverside counties, highlights independence, empowerment, and community participation as core priorities for the region’s disability community—and these values align closely with the purpose of Light & Power’s annual prom, offering a welcoming environment, where individuals can celebrate together in a setting designed to honor their dignity and joy.
As the community looks forward to this year’s celebration, the prom continues to represent the heart of Light & Power’s mission: creating meaningful, joyful experiences that bring people together and strengthen the bonds of inclusion throughout the region.
