REDLANDS >> Redlands Festival of the Arts event chairwoman Shirley Harry and board president Lynn Whitmer recently announced the presentation of arts educational grants of $1,500.00 each to the Micah House Arts Program, the Redlands Educational Partnership (REP) Foundation AAA Academy, and the Redlands Art Association’s Youth Education Program.
In announcing the grants, Harry said, “We are pleased that the success of last year’s Redlands Festival of the Arts has allowed us to assist these student arts educational programs. Our success is the result of the many sponsors, volunteers, artists, and festival visitors who participate every year.”
More than 50 artists are expected to participate in the 2016 Redlands Festival of the Arts, which is an open air, juried art show. The festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29 in Smiley Park. There is no charge for admission, but festival guests are encouraged to leave a free-will donation to help support the grants program.
Harry said, “The Redlands Festival of Arts is a great way to spend the Memorial Day weekend for both artists and festival visitors. You can view and shop for incredible art to decorate your home while at the same time supporting our student and adult emerging artist grant programs.”
A family friendly event, the festival includes a Kids Arts Zone with hands-on fun art experiences. The festival also includes special exhibits at the Smiley Library and the Lincoln Shrine along with live entertainment and a food, beer and wine garden.
The Redlands Festival of Arts is a 501(c) (3) charity dedicated to the presentation of fine art to the community in a family-friendly public setting. Our grants support student artists and emerging adult artists, helping them develop their talents and exhibit their works.
