Moreno Valley residents are being invited to take an active role in shaping the city’s future, by serving on one of its Boards or Commissions, Mayor Ulises announced.
“One of the greatest strengths of Moreno Valley is the people who step up to serve. Our Boards and Commissions play an important role in shaping how our City grows, plans, and delivers services; and they do so by giving residents a direct voice in local decision-making,” Mayor Ulises said.
These volunteer groups are made up entirely of residents who bring their experience, ideas, and perspectives to help guide City policies and priorities. Their work spans a wide range of areas, from parks and libraries--to planning, traffic, public art, and environmental preservation. According to the Mayor, “Their input helps ensure that decisions reflect the needs and values of the community we all share.”
Serving on a board or commission offers residents a chance to learn how local government operates and to make an immediate impact in their community. Whether residents are passionate about accessibility, youth leadership, the arts, sustainability, or senior services, there is an opportunity to contribute in almost any area of interest.
Mayor Ulises encouraged Moreno Valley residents to apply, saying, “I encourage residents to consider applying to serve on a board or commission of their choice. Current openings, meeting agendas, and applications are all available on the City’s website, and appointments are made in compliance with state transparency requirements. All applicants must be Moreno Valley residents and willing to serve with a commitment to collaboration and public service.”
He added, “If you’ve ever wanted to play a more active role in our City’s future, this is a great place to start. When residents participate, Moreno Valley grows stronger, more responsive, and better prepared for what’s ahead. I’m grateful to everyone who chooses to serve.”
