Photo caption: Residents are being warned to take precaution if they have been in the following locations where they may have been exposed to measles. San Bernardino County officials from the Department of Public Health are warning against additional potential public exposure to measles at various locations in Loma Linda, Redlands and Highland. As of Feb. 18, there have been nine confirmed cases of measles in San Bernardino County, either initial exposures or linked as secondary cases in conjunction with a measles breakout associated with a recent outbreak at Disneyland in December 2014. County health officials say it is possible residents may have been exposed to measles since one of the confirmed cases visited public places while infectious at the following potential exposure locations and times: • Target, 27320 West Lugonia Ave., Redlands, on Sunday, Feb. 8 between 4 and 6:30 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 13 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. • Dollar Tree, 25670 Redlands Blvd., Redlands, on Thursday, Feb. 12, between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 13, between 1 and 3 p.m. • Parliament Chocolate, 16 East Redlands Blvd., Redlands, on Friday, Feb. 13, between 2 and 3:30 p.m. • Trader Joe’s, 552 Orange St., Redlands, on Feb. 13 between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. • Loma Linda University Medical Center- Lab, 11370 Anderson St., Loma Linda, on Tuesday, Feb. 10 between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 12, between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. • Loma Linda University Medical Center, 7223 Church St. Suite C-1, Highland, on Monday, Feb. 9 between 4 and 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10 between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 12 between 1:30 and 4 p.m. • Sushi Mac, 7243 Boulder Ave., Highland, on Sunday, Feb. 8 between 6 and 8:30 p.m. • Walmart, 4210 E. Highland Ave., Highland, on Sunday, Feb. 8 between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Health officials are reminding residents that measles is highly contagious and is a potentially severe disease that can cause fever, rash, cough and red, water eyes. Measles spreads easily through air and direct contact with infected individuals, and is contagious from approximately four days before the rash appears through four days after the rash appears. The Department of Public Health has been working with the above listed locations to contact people who may have been exposed to these cases. Health officials advise those in the above locations around the same time as the individual with measles should take precautions by monitoring themselves for illness with fever and/or an unexplained rash from seven to 21 days after their exposure, as this is the time period when symptoms may develop. If symptoms develop, residents are advised to stay at home and immediately contact a health care provider or the DPH at 1-800-722-4794. Do not visit a health care provider without first notifying them of your potential exposure, County health officials advise.
