Crafton Hills College President named Chancellor of North Orange County Community College District

The North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) Board of Trustees recently announced that Dr. Cheryl Marshall, the president of Crafton Hills College (CHC) in the San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) has been appointed their new chancellor. She will assume the new position on July 1, after the appointment is formally approved by the board at their February meeting. John Longville, President of the SBCCD Board of Trustees said, “Dr. Marshall has achieved a great deal during her four-year tenure as president at Crafton Hills College as well as her prior service as Vice President of Instruction. The already beautiful Crafton campus is now more educationally versatile by the completion of 4 new, environmentally-conscious buildings provided by the taxpayers who supported the Measures M and P bond programs and the creation of a comprehensive construction program that will support a cutting edge educational environment.” Chancellor Bruce Baron said, “We will miss Dr. Marshall, but this is a tremendous opportunity for her, personally and professionally. Her time with the SBCCD has been marked by numerous accomplishments at the college, including a substantial growth in enrollment, an increase in retention and success rates of the Crafton students and enhanced community and alumni support of the Crafton Hills College Foundation.” “I’m proud of the successes at Crafton Hills College that are due, in large part, to the great faculty and staff I worked with. I love Crafton and will miss it deeply, but am very excited to be joining a prestigious district that has model programs and rich stories of student success,” said Marshall. In addition to improving the campus’ programs, enrollment, success markers and campus facilities, Marshall developed partnerships with K-12 and 4-year institutions to smooth the transition from middle and high schools through community college and on to 4 year colleges and institutions as well as enhancing working relationships with the local community. Marshall has served in a variety of professional organizations, including the City of Yucaipa Economic Development Committee, Association of California Community College Administrators, and California Community College Chief Executive Officers. NOCCCD has two colleges, Cypress and Fullerton, and the School of Continuing Education, and enrolls nearly 90,000 students each term. The district’s service area encompasses approximately 155 square miles and serves more than a million people.
