This year marked the 31st annual A Run Through Redlands, organized by the Kiwanis Club of Redlands. Run Through Redlands is a scenic 5k, 10k, and half marathon event that welcomes those on foot as well as those on wheelchairs. Strollers and walkers are welcome too. All proceeds collected from registration will be donated to local charities, and awarded as scholarships for local students chosen by the Kiwanis club. In addition to the main event, the Kinder Dash was held at the Lincoln Shrine Park at 10 am, in which kids of ages 3-6 participated in a short dash race. Each participant received a participation ribbon. The Color Splash, a colorful race based on Holi, an ancient Hindu celebration which is observed in India and other areas in southeast Asia, was also available for those who would choose an un-timed and out of the ordinary race. Students had the option of running as a group with their schools, and getting a $5 refund for each participant under the age of 18, provided that there were at least 15 participants registered. The Half Marathon results were as follows: 44 year old Gray Mavhera of Moreno Valley came in first place at a little bit over an hour and eighteen minutes, with 22 year old San Bernardino resident, Timothy Abarca following just four minutes later. 33 year old Marcos Medina of Beaumont came in third place with a time of 1:24:11. The 10k division results included 33 year old Justin Patananan of Lancaster, who completed the 10k race in a little bit over 35 minutes. Sebastian Puraci, 21 year old Highland resident came in second just seconds after Patananan, and 14 year young Jesus Guzman of Riverside came in just a minute after. The 5k results included first place holder Isais Ramirez, a 14 year old Riverside resident who finished the 5k race in just under 17 minutes. He was followed close behind by Joshua Ward, 27, of Forrest Falls. Justin Patananan took third place in this race, coming in 14 seconds shy of 18 minutes.
