State Street Winery invited guests to take part in their two-year anniversary celebration on Saturday, July 27 while enjoying Street Tacos and live music. This cozy corner winery, complete with barrel tables, was filled with customers as they sipped their favorite wines. As a part of the evening’s festivities, the winery raffled off a barrel clock made especially for the event. With over 350 wine club members, this small family-owned and -operated business has gained much recognition over the last several months. Members receive one bottle of wine per month, in addition to complimentary tastings, table reservations and 10 percent off purchases. The winery, which offers wine label customizations and private parties, dedicated two bottles of wine to Redlands in honor of the city’s 125th birthday. Ten percent of sales for the limited edition Sauvignon blanc and Merlot wines will continue to be donated to the city. On July 15, owners Robin and Janet Harter presented Mayor Pro Tem Paul Foster with a check for $653, representing proceeds from the first three months of wine sales. State Street Winery offers a unique close-to-home feel, as they make and bottle all of their wines on site using grapes from the State of Washington. Since its inception in 2011, the winery has filled over 30,000 bottles. Janet Harter explained that working with her family has been great, in addition to conversing with customers on a daily basis. “Everybody says it feels like Cheers. They come in and a lot of them we know by name and if I don’t know their name I know what kind of wine they want to drink. I’ll see them turning the corner and I’m already pouring their glass of wine,” said Harter. After discovering the winery just over a year ago, Lorraine Gidcumb has been a repeat customer. “Their customer service is great. They make you feel like family,” explained Gidcumb. The winery’s next project will focus on expanding, as they hope to open a new production location and extend seating into the current vinification room.
