REDLANDS, California — Sept. 24, 2018 — Each year, the University of Redlands invites the campus and community to hear the latest work from the accomplished faculty authors in its creative writing department. This year’s annual faculty reading at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, will include works of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Guests will have an opportunity to meet the faculty authors at a reception following the event, where refreshments will be served. This event, located in Hall of Letters 100 on the Redlands campus, is free and open to the public.
Faculty scheduled to read include:
· Trinie Dalton has authored/co-edited six books, and her new book of essays, a limited edition artist’s book, will have a release party Nov. 4, 2018, at The Pit gallery in L.A.
· Author-artist Rilla Jaggia quit trying to outrun her teenage angst; she writes #ownvoices fiction for young adults.
· Jennifer K. Sweeney is the author of three books of poetry, Little Spells (New Issues Press), Salt Memory, and How to Live on Bread and Music, winner of the James Laughlin Award, the Perugia Press Prize, and nominated for The Poet’s Prize.
· Leslie Brody teaches nonfiction writing. Her new book, a biography of Louise Fitzhugh, will be published by Seal Press/Hachette in 2020.
· Pat Geary has written 12 novels, but these days she also paints and writes poetry.
· Joy Manesiotis is the author of the poetry collection, They Sing to Her Bones, winner of the New Issues Prize, and A Short History of Anger, a poetic hybrid which has been performed in Europe and the U.S.
· Alisa Slaughter has published fiction and creative nonfiction, most recently in Santa Monica Review and terrain.org.
