The Beginning of a New Era in Emergency Communications

On March 19, San Bernardino County Officials broke ground on a three-story, 75,000-square-foot Valley Communications Center in San Bernardino. The County celebrates the beginning of a new era in emergency communications. The San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services, Consolidated Fire Agencies (CONFIRE), the Inland Counties Emergency Management Agency (ICEMA), and members of the  San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department will all be housed in this cutting-edge, earthquake-resistant, self-sufficient building.

Disasters often require a number of agencies that don't normally interact on a daily basis to work together to coordinate effective emergency response - law enforcement, animal care, purchasing, public works, the Red Cross and others. The technology in this building will be used to ensure that emergency responders from responding agencies can communicate effectively with each other and have access to the latest and best information in service to residents and visitors.

Supervisor Curt Hagman is very proud of the these agencies working together to make this facility a reality, enhancing our capabilities as a County, so that when disasters happen, these agencies are even more equipped to serve.

The Police Department’s goal is to have 350 sworn officers. Current full-time staffing is reported at 295 sworn officers and 156 professional staff.
