As the Assisteens of Redlands gear up for their 2018-2019 year, they took a moment to reflect on the past year’s achievements.
On May 22nd, they held their annual Recognition Celebration at Cope Middle School, where the organization honored 131 active members and welcomed incoming provisional members for the 2018-2019 school year. For the 2017-2018 school year, members volunteered over 2,184 hours, and each member contributed anywhere from 25 to hundreds of hours. The “Independent Sector” has determined that the value of a volunteer hour is $24.14 per hour, which means that the Assisteens of Redlands have donated $52,631.24 back to nonprofit organizations in the community.
The Assisteens gave special recognition to members who volunteered above and beyond the 25 hour minimum requirement for the organization. For active members, the top volunteers were Kenia Garcia with 67 hours, Karen Garcia with 75 hours, and Ciara Sodia with 76 hours. For provisional members, the top hour workers were Jared Benash with 74.75 hours, Neal Medeiros with 108 hours, and Sofia Davali with 132 hours.
The 2017-2018 Board was recognized for their work and dedication to the program followed by the induction of the 2018-2019 Board. Current Chairman Emily Sibley passed the gavel to incoming Chairman Kenia Garcia, and introduced the rest of the board including the Vice Chairman Nidhi Kejriwal, Secretary Jenna Surdizal, Treasurer Sophie Aubry, Membership Chairman Karen Garcia, Resource Development Chairman Melissa Johnson, Public Relations Chairman Ross Sibley, Social Chairmen Sophie Parker and Antoinette Schreiber, Philanthropic Projects Chairman Elizabeth Wang, Hospitality Chairmen Julia Richardson and Juliette Scolieri, Parliamentarian Gisselle Cervantes, and Thrift Shop Chairman Emily Cervantes.
