Your local favorites may be giving away weekly prizes just for you! Local businesses are giving back to show their support and thank you for shopping local. This week’s winner, Shirili Valdez won a free dinner for two from one of her absolute favorites Hannah’s Restaurant.

As this week’s winner, Valdez and everyone who enters into the City News Group Sweepstakes, has the chance to win $1,000 on December 3rd!

“What a gift,” Valdez said. “I heard about the Sweepstakes Program from Kaye at Hannah's Restaurant.”

“She spends so much time caring for others that I was happy to be given the opportunity to do something for her when she urged me to participate.  This will make her and our Hannah's family very happy when we go there tonight for dinner.”

Valdez has worked as an Administrative Aide at the Salvation Army Transitional Living Center for nine years.

“I volunteered serving dinner here 2 nights a week for 17 years and was most blessed to be offered a job here, 9 years ago, serving others” Valdez said.

Valdez was impacted by the COVID-19 directly in early June when she was diagnosed with the virus, which she has fully recovered from.

“I am still giving thanks for the people who reached out to me to see how they could help,” Valdez said.  “My family and my Pastors made sure that we had food and met any other need that we had.

Outside of work, Valdez and her husband, Samuel, enjoy working with the children who are involved in the youth programs at the Salvation Army Church/Corp.

“Winning this gift from the City News Group is a very special treat for both of us as we are caring for family members and so many others in our work,” Valdez said.  “This will put some much needed oil back into our lamps. “

Hannah’s Restaurant is thrilled and cannot wait to provide Valdez with a warm delicious meal for two as well as to serve everyone in the community again.

"Please come join us, we are open again!," said Kaye Salazar, Hannah's Restaurant owner. "We are using precautions to keep you safe."

Hannah’s Restaurant, located at 1355 E Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404, is opened for patio dining and take-out Tuesday through Friday from 11 am- 8 pm and Saturday from 4- 8 pm.

Hannah’s Restaurant is still serving all of your savory favorites from roast prime rib, roasted turkey, hot sandwiches, burgers and most importantly their famous and flavorful homemade breads, cookies, brownies and coffee cake. New-comers will always find the perfect item to order, as the menu has a variety of options, from traditional American dinners, a low-cost seniors menu and vegetarian menu.
