Redlands Firefighters responded to a single-story residential structure fire in the 900 block of East Sharon Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday, April 3.
Arriving units made access and quickly contained the fire to the room of origin.
Neighbors saw the smoke and flames and alerted the homeowner by banging on the front door, allowing her time to evacuate with her dog before firefighters arrived. Unfortunately, one cat perished in the fire. No other injuries were reported.
The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes. Crews remained on scene for approximately two hours for overhaul.
Damage is estimated at $60,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
