Red, White & Blue Berry Trifle

Ingredients:

  • 1 store-bought angel food cake or pound cake (cubed)

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)

  • 1 pint fresh blueberries

  • 1½ cups heavy whipping cream

  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Optional: 1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese for a richer cream layer

 Instructions:

  1. Make the whipped cream:
Beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. (For a richer layer, blend in softened cream cheese before whipping.)

  2. Assemble the trifle:

    • In a large glass bowl or trifle dish, layer in this order:

      • Cubed cake

      • Whipped cream

      • Strawberries

      • Blueberries

    • Repeat layers until you run out of ingredients, finishing with whipped cream and a flag pattern on top using the berries (optional but super festive!).

  3. Chill:
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

 Tips:

  • Use mini cups or mason jars for individual servings.

  • Add a splash of lemon zest to the cream for extra brightness.

  • Can be made 1 day ahead—just keep it chilled!
