CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES - Week of January 4
Construction on the new 9-mile Arrow corridor is more than 70% complete with the bridge construction almost 100% complete. Crews continue to install signals; pave and reconstruct curbs, gutters, and sidewalks; install cabling for signals and stations, and lay new track throughout the corridor. Platform and electrical work is ongoing at the San Bernardino Transit Center, ESRI, Tippecanoe and Downtown Redlands stations. At times, work throughout the corridor may be loud and cause vibration. Please remember construction is dynamic and the schedule is weather permitting and subject to change.
RAIL CROSSING CLOSURES
Waterman Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, January 4 at 5:00 a.m. and will remain closed for approximately 9 weeks. Detour maps can be found here.
LOCAL STREET CLOSURES
Daytime (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) intermittent lane closures will occur on local streets throughout the corridor including Tippecanoe Avenue, Arrowhead Avenue, Mill Street, Orange Show Road, California Street, Nevada Street, Colton Avenue, Tennessee Street, Texas Street, Eureka Street, Orange Street, 6th Street, 7th Street, Church Street, and University Street. Through travel/two-way travel will remain at all times at each location.
Park Avenue: crews continue to work on roadway improvements Monday through Sunday 24 hours/day. A local detour is posted and sends traffic north around Sylvan Park.
ADJACENT PROJECTS
City of Redlands PARIS Project
In March 2020, the City of Redlands began their Pavement Accelerated Repair Implementation Strategy (PARIS) project. For the next five years, the city will be resurfacing two-thirds of the city streets. Please click here for more information on the project and any upcoming detours.
Inland Valley Development Agency (IVDA) Mountain View Avenue Utility Work
Mountain View Avenue is closed through early 2021 between Victoria Avenue and Coulston Street for various utility work unrelated to the Redlands Passenger Rail Project. The work includes the relocation of high-pressure gas, water, and sewer lines as part of an overall widening of Mountain View Avenue from I-10 to the San Bernardino International Airport. ABOUT THE ARROW PROJECT
The Arrow is scheduled to begin service in spring 2022 and will run between the San Bernardino Transit Center located at Rialto Avenue and E Street in Downtown San Bernardino adjacent to San Manuel Stadium and will terminate at the University of Redlands. The regional rail service will integrate with other modes of transportation such as cars, buses, and bicycles and will offer residents, businesses, and visitors a new option for live, work, and play.
