San Bernardino County Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector Ensen Mason reminds qualifying seniors and disabled taxpayers that there is still time to apply for the Property Tax Postponement Program for the 2018-19 tax year. The State Controller’s Office (SCO) extended the application deadline for residents affected by recent wildfires and flooding in 22 counties, including San Bernardino County, to June 1, 2019.

This loan program allows eligible homeowners to postpone the payment of their current-year property taxes on their primary residence at an interest rate of 7percent. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first served basis, and are available here in the office and online.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be at least 62 years of age, or blind, or have a disability;
  • Own and occupy the home as your primary place of residence;
  • Have a total household income of $35,500 or less; and
  • Have at least 40 percent equity in the property.

For more information, please visit the SCO’s website at www.sco.ca.gov, or contact them by phone at (800) 952-5661 or by email at postponement@sco.ca.gov. You may also pick up an application at the Tax Collector’s Office at 268 W. Hospitality Lane, First Floor in San Bernardino.
