The Redlands Republican Women’s Club, Federated is pleased to announce that Henry Gomez Nickel, serving as Mayor Pro Tempore for the City of San Bernardino, will be the featured speaker at the Club’s May 18, Friday lunch meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Redlands Country Club starting at 11:30 AM, with a delicious lunch served at noon and the presentation scheduled at 12:30 PM. The cost for the lunch is $20 and reservations must be made by May 16. For reservations call Laurie Tremain at (909) 792-2501.

If you want to hear the speaker and not have lunch, there is no cost, and there will be seats available. College students are invited to attend and lunch will be free for them. Henry Gomez Nickel is a candidate for State Assembly, District 40.

When the city of San Bernardino filed for bankruptcy in 2012, Nickel was elected as a reformer in a 2014 special election. Nickel continues to support law enforcement, fiscal discipline and accountability in San Bernardino, and he won a reelection victory in 2015. As a City Council member, Nickel worked to help bring the city out of bankruptcy in 2017. He serves on the League of California Cities’ Transportation, Communication and Public Works Policy Committee.

He recognizes that government must live within its means and justify each tax dollar spent. Nickel founded a public relations business 20 years ago; his career includes service within the U.S. Treasury Dept. in Washington D.C. and more than 8 years as a regional transportation analyst. Nickel guiding leadership and management principles derive from his extensive experience as an entrepreneur, educator and public servant.

Nickel was born and raised in the 40th district (which includes Redlands and Loma Linda); after earning his undergraduate degree from American University in Washington, D.C., he went on to study law and earned his degree in National Security Studies from Cal State Univ., San Bernardino. He is a homeowner and is married; he dedicated himself to actively engaging within the community.

Look for the Redlands Republican Women’s Club Federated table at Redlands Market Night Thursday May 3rd from 6-9 PM; and pick up a list of candidates for the 2018 election, which is an important one for California.
