At just 15 years old, Amanda Estrada is already making her mark both in the classroom and on the field. A Freshman at Grand Terrace High School, Amanda maintains an impressive 4.0 GPA (4.3 weighted) while balancing a demanding schedule filled with academics, athletics, and personal interests.

Amanda’s athletic journey began at an early age. She ran her first 5K at just seven years old and discovered her passion for soccer in fifth grade. She later competed in Cross Country for Grand Terrace High School, where she quickly distinguished herself as a standout runner. Amanda is currently a member of the GTHS girls’ soccer team, playing left winger in the midfield.

Her accomplishments speak volumes. In Cross Country, Amanda qualified for CIF and had the memorable experience of competing in the rain for the first time. She consistently finished all league races in the top ten and has earned the distinction of being the fastest Freshman on record in school history. In addition to her athletic success, Amanda is enrolled in the Engineering Pathway at GTHS, further demonstrating her dedication both academically and athletically.

Amanda’s hard work and commitment were recently recognized by the City of Colton, where she received the Exceptional Athlete Recognition Award as part of the Colton Hometown Heroes program. The honor was awarded for her dedication, athletic excellence, and outstanding sportsmanship as a member of the GTHS Cross Country team.

Outside of sports, Amanda enjoys running, gardening, hiking, cooking, and spending time with friends and family, which are activities that reflect her well-rounded and grounded personality. She also occasionally runs with the Colton Run Club, led by Colton City Council Member John Echevarria.

When asked who inspires her most, Amanda shared, “My biggest influences in my life would be my family, especially my mom, who introduced me to running 5Ks when I was younger. My parents for always taking me to practice and games, my siblings for cheering me on, my best friend Karina for never letting me give up on my dreams, and my 100-Mile Club instructor, Ms. Rodriguez from Terrace View Elementary.”

Looking toward the future, Amanda plans to attend college with aspirations of becoming an environmental engineer. She hopes to live an eco-friendly lifestyle, continue improving as a runner, and eventually compete at the professional level.

Amanda also shared one of her favorite quotes that keeps her motivated: “When your legs get tired, run with your heart.”

She added advice of her own for readers: “You don’t need fancy running shoes to run.”

As Amanda continues her journey at Grand Terrace High School, there is no doubt her determination, talent, and strong support system will guide her toward continued success. The future looks incredibly bright for this Lady Titan & the best is truly yet to come.
