On June 10, 2025, at 2:19 p.m., San Bernardino County Fire crews swiftly responded to a structure fire on the 22000 block of McClaren Street in Grand Terrace. Upon arrival, the first units discovered an attached garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire rapidly spreading to the main residence and several vehicles parked in the driveway.

Tragically, a family dog was found deceased inside the structure after the fire was extinguished. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters. The American Red Cross is currently assisting four displaced adults and one child.

Firefighters immediately launched an aggressive offensive attack to halt further extension of the fire into the home. Their efforts included coordinated vertical ventilation on the roof performed by truck companies, which effectively released heat and smoke. This strategic move allowed interior crews to gain control of the blaze.

Despite facing challenging conditions, the firefighting teams successfully contained the fire, managing to knock it down within approximately 30 minutes. A total of 24 personnel were involved in the effort, including five fire engines, one truck company, one battalion chief, one fire investigator, and one public information officer. Notably, one of the responding engines was provided by the Colton Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by San Bernardino County Fire’s Office of the Fire Marshal. The agency reminds all residents to never enter a burning building, as fires can escalate quickly, and re-entry can lead to serious injury or becoming trapped.
