District Attorney Mike Ramos was recently selected to sit on the National Leadership Council of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids.
The anti-crime organization's new National Leadership Council is comprised of nearly 30 law enforcement leaders and violence survivors from around the country that will help advise Fight Crime: Invest in Kids to continue leading efforts to advance evidence-based solutions that steer kids away from crime and towards productive lives.
According to Josh Spaulding, the organization's acting National Director, District Attorney Ramos is a founding member of the council.
"I am excited to have D.A. Ramos join the Council," said Spaulding. "Since joining Fight Crime: Invest in Kids 15 years ago, D.A. Ramos has used his expertise and firsthand experiences in law enforcement to educate policymakers on how we can make our communities safer by ensuring kids get a good start in life and never enter down a path towards crime."
Spaulding added that as a National Leadership Council member, Ramos will be a leader among the organization's more than 5,000 members, and ensure the organization is able to continue educating policymakers and the public on evidence-based solutions that steer kids towards crime-free lives.
Ramos has been a member of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids since 2003.
"In our mission to reduce and ultimately prevent crime, we must continue to invest in our kids on the front end," said District Attorney Mike Ramos. "It is during this time we have the best chance of keeping our kids on a positive course and preventing them from becoming adult offenders. As a member of the Leadership Council, I look forward to working with the organization and my fellow colleagues in law enforcement to make sure our kids have every opportunity to succeed in this world."
Founded in 1996, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids takes a hard-nosed look at the strategies proven to reduce crime. Armed with research, members make the case for solutions that cut crime and put kids on the path to productive lives. The organization promotes smart, bipartisan state and federal solutions to reduce crime, such as evidence-based, voluntary parent coaching programs for new parents that prevent child abuse and neglect; high-quality early childhood education that increases educational success and graduation rates; stronger K-12 education goals and after-school programs that give kids a clear path toward productive futures and away from crime; and proven coaching programs that strengthen families and get troubled kids back on track.
