University of Redlands Professor Johannes Moenius will be a featured speaker at the International Academic Forum's (IAFOR) Conference of Sustainability, Energy and the Environment 2014 to be held in Providence, RI this fall. Dr. Moenius’ presentation titled “Energy means the world for the United States” will outline the risks and opportunities for the future of oil in the U.S. and will discuss what can be done to insure against energy related risks. The conference will include a variety of presenters representing a wide range of social science disciplines, expressing divergent views, searching for common ground and creating the synergies that can inspire multi-disciplinary collaborations. In developing these relationships, the role of the social sciences is strengthened along with scholars in the STEM disciplines in seeking solutions to the complex issues and problems of the 21st century. Dr. Moenius is the William R. and S. Sue Johnson endowed Chair of the Spatial Economic Analysis and Regional Planning at the University of Redlands School of Business as well as the Director of the Institute of Spatial and Economic Analysis. He has presented his work in more than 80 talks at universities, conferences and government institutions. His work has appeared in The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Development Economics, and the International Journal of Industrial Organization.
