Elect Kristin Washington to New Redlands USD Seat

By Committee to Elect Kristin Washington School Board 2018

10/31/2018 at 04:10 PM

Kristin Washington is the best choice for the Redlands Unified School Board in Area 2.  This is a new voting district and it has no incumbent.

Kristin is a 12-year resident of Redlands and is currently employed by the not-for-profit Medi-Cal and Medicare health plan, Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP).  Kristin was instrumental in helping families navigate the Affordable Care Act’s complex enrollment and eligibility process during the healthcare law’s initial years. Thousands of low-income children and parents throughout the Inland Empire gained access to healthcare due to Kristin’s work and the work of her team. She will use that same commitment to purpose as a member of the Redlands School Board.

Kristin has expressed alarm over the media reports of inappropriate relationships between teachers and students in the Redlands School District. Her concern is a testament to her commitment to our children.  As a Board Member she will ask the tough questions to ensure that inappropriate teacher-student behavior and the payment of settlements for that behavior remains behind us.

Kristin will use leadership and collaboration skills honed in healthcare services and community outreach to connect with families, local organizations and small businesses in the District. Those connections that will help the District create the type of engaged community that is needed to ensure we are raising an entire District of successful students.

As priorities, Kristin will focus on:

• Safe schools

• Making learning fun

• Equal access to quality education for every child, regardless of race, economic background, learning ability or gender, and

• Reducing the impact of bullying
