Riverside Poly High School students Daniel Lara and Joshua Holz visited Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH) Wednesday, March 9. After posting a video on Feb. 15, the boys climbed to social media stardom in a matter of days. The teens decided to take their newfound fame and give back to their community. Lara, 16, and Holz, 14, who have been friends since middle school, visited with teen patients at LLUCH in the Stater Bros. Activity Center. They brought along with them Vans® shoe VP, Steve Van Doren, who brought with him over 100 pairs of Vans and other Vans swag including T-shirts, stickers and bandanas. Patients age 13-17 came down from their hospital rooms to meet the viral video stars, who also signed shoes, shoe boxes and posters for the fans. Lilian Verdugo, 15, of Desert Hot Springs was one of those patients, admitting to be a little “star struck,” she said. “It’s a little crazy,” she said, of how the boys earned their fame. Wednesday was also Lara’s 16th birthday. Hospital staff surprised him with a cake and a card that was signed by hospital patients.
