Don McCue to speak on Lincoln last year at Dessert and Dialogue

Learn about the last year of Abraham Lincoln’s presidency with guest speaker Don McCue at the Redlands Community Senior Center’s Dessert and Dialogue program from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 17.

McCue will speak on “Triumph and Tragedy”, the dramatic events of the last year of Abraham Lincoln’s presidency. He will also discuss briefly the history of the Lincoln Memorial Shrine and its founder Robert Watchorn.

McCue has worked at A.K. Smiley Public Library for 31 years, the last four as director. He graduated with a master’s degree in international relations from The John Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies in 1983.

Dessert and Dialogue is a free program open to the public that takes place after the senior nutritional lunch program at the Redlands Community Senior Center. Hot meals are served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The hot meals are available to all adults. A donation of $3 is suggested for those 60 or older, and guests under 60 may enjoy lunch for $6. 

 Future Dessert and Dialogue presentations include:

·         Searching for Treasure with guest speaker Charles Jojola on July 31.
