Arrowhead Valley Chapter NSDAR met to induct Christine Anne Eberwein to its membership. Mary Camp, Chaplain, gave the oath and offered a prayer. Regent Patricia Westerfield extended a warm welcome. Christine’s mother and grandmother, Anne Eberwein and Kathleen Reid, pinned the new member while grandfather, Al Reid looked on. Christine represents a 3rd generation member in DAR in that her sister, mother and grandmother are all active members of Arrowhead Valley Chapter.
Christine Anne Eberwein is a direct lineal descendant of John Matter Sr. and Anna Barbara Arnold of Upper Paxton Twp., PA. John was a corporal under Captains Diebler and Weaver and Col. Burd. John fought in the Battle of Long Island under Cap. Diebler and General George Washington. History has failed to record the contributions and sacrifices of Anna.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. Arrowhead Valley Chapter counts among its members those who work or live in the greater Inland Empire area.
