Redlands Police are warning consumers after the manager of a 7-Eleven store discovered a pin pad card reader had been fraudulently installed over the store’s legitimate pin pad.
The device was discovered Monday, March 5, at the store at 1161 W. Lugonia Ave. after the manager noticed an odd noise coming from one of the credit card pin pads. When he inspected the pad he found that a micro-chipped duplicate pin pad had been placed over the store’s pin pad. It is likely to have occurred sometime over the weekend.
It is unknown at this time if any fraudulent activity or misuse of customers’ identity have taken place. Anyone who believes they may have been the victim of fraudulent activity at this store between March 2 and March 5 is asked to contact the Redlands Police Department at (909) 798-7681.
