REDLANDS>> The upcoming quarterly meeting of the City of Redlands Disaster Council will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, in the Redlands City Council Chambers and will include a panel discussion on the Dec. 2, 2015 terrorist attack on the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino. The meeting is open to the public and will include panel members such as Redlands Police Commander Chris Catren, Redlands Emergency Operations Manager Fay Glass and Emergency Services Officer Carrie Cruz from the San Bernardino County Fire Department Office of Emergency Services. The City Disaster Council develops and recommends emergency and mutual aid plans and agreements for consideration and possible adoption by the Redlands City Council. The last meeting held April 25 included speakers discussing how Red Cross, Verizon Crisis Response Team and San Bernardino County Fire Department Office of Emergency Services all work together in during a crisis within the community. One topic discussed at the meeting included having the Red Cross and local fire departments developing a Home Fire Preparedness campaign. The campaign's goal is to reduce fire-related deaths by 25 percent by installing smoke alarms. Fire Chief Jeff Frazier spoke to let the Disaster Council be aware of the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign and said he is thankful for the work that Red Cross provides in the community and nationally in a crisis.
