The inaugural Inland Empire Veterans Art Show is coming to town on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Hilton Hotel in San Bernardino. Partners supporting this event include the University of Redlands, the San Bernardino Community College District, San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs, Loma Linda VA Healthcare System, Art Institute–Inland Empire, San Bernardino Vet Center, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12 and CalVet. The one-day program will showcase the talents of veteran artists and provide non-veteran artists the opportunity to honor military service of others. The event is open to all artists: veteran, military, student, or member of the general public. Works in pencil, prints, oils, watercolor, and clay will be displayed. Other submissions may include photography, sculpture and craft kits; and creative writing including original works in poetry, essay, short story and personal experience writing. All artwork and creative writing will depict the theme “Honoring our Men and Women in Uniform.” “Our men and women in uniform have sacrificed their lives, their families and their homes so we have the freedom to express ourselves through art or other media. Participation in the art show is one way we can express our gratitude and appreciation for all they have given us,” said Cheryl Kleeman, Veterans Affairs Specialist at the University of Redlands. The show will run from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 6 at the Hilton Hotel, San Bernardino, at 285 E. Hospitality Lane.
