Performer Roxie Jane Live at The Lounge 22

Local vocalist and guitarist Roxie Jane entertained music lovers with her melodic voice, flowing with the strums of her acoustic guitar at Redlands’s The Lounge 22 last Friday, June 28. While performing self-written lyrics from her debut album, “Pray on It,” she shared her life experiences through song, engaging the audience as they sat, swayed, and nodded, enjoying every note. As a senior who attends Citrus Valley High School (CVHS) in the city of Redlands, Roxie Jane is also an active student who is very involved in various school and church activities. Inspired by music from the “Oldies but Goodies” and Twilight Sagas’ actor/songwriter, Robert Pattinson, she is most influenced by her mother and father, Mike and Brenda Barnett, who are also musicians and performers. From joining a club called Agape (meaning “God’s Love”), being coached how to sing by her mother, and learning how to strum the guitar by her father, Roxie Jane began to discover her passion for music. With the support of her closest family and friends, especially best friend Daisy Hudson, to whom she dedicated the song “Walkin’”, Roxie Jane explained, “I could not have done this without God, my family, my best friend, and church.” As she continues to pursue her singing career, Roxie Jane aspires to learn how to play the electric guitar, attend Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta, and most importantly, she prays that she can touch every person with both of her instruments—“voice and guitar,” she said—and fill them with encouragement through her songs to help people in any way possible.
