The City of Redlands is presenting its second cooking demonstration for the month of October with Jesus Ochoa from Tauro Catering. This event will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the weekly Farmers’ Market, held along Redlands Boulevard between Fifth and Sixth streets. There will also be a Halloween activity for the kids. Families can drop by the Market Managers’ booth where kids can decorate a pumpkin to take home. Later in the day, from 3 to 4 p.m. State Street businesses will be passing out candy during the Safe Trick-or-Treat. Cooking demonstrations are funded through a USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) grant awarded to the City of Redlands Development Services Department in 2014. Showcasing seasonal produce from the market, cooking demonstrations help to show how to cook with produce that can be found at the farmers’ markets and promote healthy eating habits and purchasing locally and regionally grown produce. An exciting addition to services at both Market Night and the Certified Farmers’ Market is the ability to use SNAP/EBT/CalFresh benefits. Please drop by the City of Redlands’ booth (between 6th and 7th streets during Downtown Market Night), to learn more information.
