Silver Sounds Flute Ensemble Recruiting New Members

If you play the flute now, or you used to play and you’d like to start up again, then the Silver Sounds Flute Ensemble of Redlands is looking for you. The group is now recruiting new members for the summer/fall season. New members do not need any previous experience playing in a flute choir, but they should have experience playing in a junior high, high school, college, or community band or orchestra. In addition, it’s“ok” if new members are a bit “rusty” and haven’t played the flute in a while. In fact, the flute ensemble is the perfect way to get back into playing the flute. “I know there are a lot of people who played the flute in high school or college, but then stopped after graduation, because there wasn’t any group available to them. We’d love to have people dig their flutes out of the closet and start playing again,” stated Jackie Aronowitz, director of the group. “It all comes back very quickly—even if you haven’t played in years.” There is no upper or lower age group for being in the group. In the past, Silver Sounds Flute Ensemble members have ranged in age from nine to over 70 years old. The ensemble makes use of many different members of the “flute family” including the piccolo, E flat flute, C flute, alto flute, and bass flute. The group plays a wide variety of music selections ranging from classical, jazz, and arrangements of modern compositions. For more information, call Silver Sounds Director Jackie Aronowitz at 909-335-1833.
