Already a popular aspect of Hangar 24 Craft Brewery’s yearly anniversary celebrations, the KidsZone, sponsored by AlarmCo Integrated Solutions, will be improved and expanded when this spring’s celebration event opens it's doors. The Hangar 24 AirFest & 8th Anniversary Celebration will take place Saturday, May 14 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and as always, the younger generation will have plenty to see and do outside of the traditional air-show entertainment. Kids who attend with a parent or guardian, will be entertained by magic acts, tutorials that explain the science of flight, face painting, a flight simulator, bounce houses, a rock-climbing wall, an inflatable obstacle course, and so much more. Not only that, but last year’s revival of the Star Wars franchise, will inspire a visit from a galaxy far, far away. As many as 30 Stormtroopers are expected to make a dramatic arrival to the KidsZone and Darth Vader is also expected to be there. “Parents and guardians of children are a major segment of the craft-beer community, as well as some of the most loyal Hangar 24 visitors,” brewery owner and brew-master Ben Cook said. “Having an area to both thrill and entertain children is vital in helping to make the Hangar 24 AirFest & 8th Anniversary Celebration a family-oriented event that can be enjoyed by all members of a household. We are proud of the package of events and entertainment for kids that we have been able to put together”. The KidsZone schedule will kick off at noon with a visit from Cal Fire Helicopter 305, a model for Blade Ranger, the firefighting helicopter from Disney’s “Planes: Fire & Rescue”. A performance from Minor Strut Kids Band, a rock band whose members range in age from 10 to 12, will also perform on the main music stage at noon. The visit from the Stormtroopers takes place at 1 p.m., with autograph availability until 3 p.m. Also scheduled in the KidsZone is a K9 demonstration through the Redlands Police Department. Thanks to Home Depot in Redlands, kids can also attend a workshop from 1-4 p.m. at the KidsZone where they can build a wooden helicopter. Toddlers age 6 and under are admitted for free to the Hangar 24 AirFest & 8th Anniversary Celebration. Kids ages 6-12 will be admitted for $5. All age groups will have full access to the KidsZone. Adult tickets for the anniversary celebration are available for as low as $17 and, as always, parking is free. VIP tickets are also available, as well as discounted pricing for active military. Also new this year is a fast pass beer ticket, designed to reduce cash-flow exchange and limit the waiting in lines.
