Jamie Beck will present an Employment Boot Camp from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 5th in the Assembly Room of the A.K. Smiley Public Library, 125 W. Vine St., Redlands. This free interactive workshop targets professionals from recent graduates to mid‐career changers and those who were laid off or downsized or are returning to a career after time away from the workforce. This program was made possible by a grant secured from Edison International Community Grant program. The Community Grant program expands Edison’s giving to support more grassroots organizations. It was established to help a wide range of groups whose missions and programs fall within four investment areas: Education, Environment, Civic, Public Safety/Preparedness. The workshop is intended to provide people with ideas that will turn the job search process from reactive to proactive and put the job seeker in the driver’s seat. Beck will discuss how to find a job based on one’s passions and interests, and the workshop will include resume writing and interview techniques. Beck is a former career counselor for the California State University system and has a master’s degree in human services with an emphasis in social systems and a concentration in family and work. She has worked for the California Department of Education and First 5 programs in the public and nonprofit sector. There is no registration required, but those who attend should arrive early, because seating is limited.
