SAN BERNARDINO>> Team members from iHerb gave Boys & Girls Club members a behind-the-scenes look at their company’s operations and conducted mock interviews at a recent career day at their facility. Club members, who are in middle school and high school, got an overview of the company and then rotated between iHerb managers for mock interviews. The interviewers worked in fields such as human resources, warehousing, global logistics, purchasing, safety and security. During interviews, iHerb managers gave club members interview some tips and advice on topics like finishing their education. “It’s interesting to get asked questions and ask questions back,” said eighth-grader Gabriel Gomez. “It was very inspirational.” IHerb also treated club members to lunch, and safety manager Renee Botello gave them a tour of the facility. “You get to meet different types of people from different countries,” said club member Amber Turner. “It was cool.” IHerb has team members who speak a variety of languages due to the majority of its business is overseas. IHerb team members had positive things to say about their time with the club members. “It was a great experience and I was happy I interviewed teens interested in law enforcement,” said Security Manager Claudia Navarro. Help Desk Supervisor Scott Oxenreiter said he wished he had the same experience as the club members when he was a teen, and encouraged them to get an education in information technology, because the field is growing. Other team members said they were glad they participated and volunteered for a career day next year, according to iHerb Senior Human Resources Manager Mary Cardenas.
