The Taco Shack in Redlands recently hosted a fundraiser event to contribute to Officer Estrada’s K-9 companion “Chewy”. Chewy is a three-year-old German Shepard that works within the Narcotics Unit. Individuals donated gift baskets that were raffled off, and Kona Ice volunteered at the event giving all proceeds to Chewy and Officer Estrada. The Taco Shack although new, wanted to help donate towards the program. No proceeds were taken from the business’ sales, however donations were gladly appreciated from customers who willingly donated. Officer Estrada commented that the yearly funding for one of the narcotics dogs can range anywhere from $1,200 to $1,500 for training alone, not including medical funding. The event was able to raise a successful $1,100 for Chewy.
