As the summer heats up, the Joslyn Senior Center, Community Senior Center and the Community Center are cooling down.
The National Weather Service predicts excessive heat and a prolonged period of very hot weather for inland valleys, deserts and mountains this month, with the possibility of record-breaking temperatures.
In addition to providing a place to escape the extreme heat, Redlands Cool Centers offer informative programs in a relaxed and secure environment. People in the community are encouraged to enjoy the day away from their high temperature homes and come down to either Senior Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or the Community Center Monday through Friday from noon to 9 p.m. to beat the heat. The Community Center and Senior Center located at 111 W. Lugonia will also be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A donation from Stater Bros. Markets will also provide more than 2,000 bottles of water and nearly 1,000 granola bars for the Cool Centers.
Cool Center activities include: puzzles, cards and games, craft class, exercise class, and more. All activities are free. Discover our regular classes and activities during the day too.
Each of the centers will also provide special events during the summer. There are a variety of activities to get involved with. Come on by and see what’s new.
The Joslyn Senior Center is located at 21 Grant St., and the Redlands Community Center and Senior Center are located at 111 W. Lugonia Avenue.
