Local Author Molly Bogh Speaks in Redlands

Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society (RedlandsGardenClub.com) invites the public to learn how to create a waterwise lawn. If you’ve been thinking about trading some lawn for water-saving plants, be sure to catch the Thursday, Sept. 18 speaker, Highland author Molly Bogh. She will be sharing tips from her new book, Life After Lawns: 8 Steps from Grass to a Waterwise Garden. Her informative talk will highlight lessons she learned from converting her own lawn to a beautiful, water-efficient garden. Bogh, a retired city planner, teamed with landscape design-build contractor Bill Schnetz to co-author the book, which gives practical, step-by-step advice on converting thirsty grass into gorgeous, water-efficient gardens. Topics include: 1. Designing a garden that feels like home 2. Killing the lawn and preparing the soil 3. Saving money and water on irrigation 4. Selecting, planting, and maintaining drought tolerant plants The book, with hundreds of color photographs of plants and design ideas, is available on Amazon.com and will also be available at the meeting. The Thursday, Sept. 18 meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Church of the Nazarene, located 1.3 miles East of the Redlands Mall at 1307 E. Citrus Avenue. Turn North on Grove Street to the Church Parking Lot. Enter through the Assembly Hall entrance doors. Door prizes, refreshments and an opportunity to meet the guest speaker are a bonus to the monthly meetings. Guests are encouraged.
