Detectives have connected a man arrested for breaking into cars in downtown Redlands with at least six vehicle burglaries since July in Redlands and San Bernardino and recovered thousands of dollars in stolen property. Investigators believe the suspect is responsible for additional vehicle burglaries over the past several months.

Police arrested 29-year-old Danilso Delossantos Tejada Jr., of San Bernardino, on Oct. 18 after he was seen by a witness breaking into vehicles in the Fifth Street parking structure in downtown Redlands. Along with burglary tools and stolen property from the two recent vehicle burglaries, officers also located additional property believed to have been stolen.

Detectives had already identified Tejada as the suspect in a Sept. 24 vehicle burglary in downtown Redlands in which three guitars and other musical equipment valued at more than $7,000 had been stolen. Following Tejada’s arrest in the Oct. 18 incident he was booked on the additional charges.

After serving a search warrant on Tejada’s residence, police recovered one of the stolen guitars and information leading to a pawn shop in Fontana where the two additional guitars were located. Police later recovered additional stolen musical instruments, including a violin and two keyboards, at a pawn shop in San Bernardino.

Detectives identified additional stolen property from other vehicle burglaries at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino, including rackets stolen from a tennis coach’s vehicle in July and an iPhone taken from another vehicle in September.

Detectives have recovered additional property, including cameras, construction power tools, smart phones, tablets and credit cards. Investigators believe the items to be stolen and are trying to identify the owners.

Anyone with information on additional vehicle burglaries in the areas of downtown Redlands, the National Orange Show or Cal State San Bernardino is asked to contact Detective Dale Peters at (909) 798-7681 or by email at dpeters@redlandspolice.org.
