REDLANDS >> It was a breezy spring day; bubbles and children’s laughter filled the Burrage Mansion for, “The Best Day Ever!” Children and their families totaling 140 were the guests of Rapunzel and Flynn for, A Magical Day, hosted by Mansion Memories. This included some of the victims from the Terror attack in San Bernardino in December. Looking at the happy faces of the children and adults you would not know that they were facing difficult situations. Mansion Memories is a non-profit organization that has a vision to bless families facing the things that weigh down our hearts and souls such as death, cancer, disease and injury, and give these families a day of love, laughter, and magic. Working in close alliance with the Rochford Foundation, Mansion Memories hosts events for children and their families. These one-of-kind events will be held 3 times this year at the Burrage Mansion. On this sunny day April 16, the princess and the thief entertained the families with stories and songs. The hosts welcomed the families inside the mansion and helped with crafts where the girls made flower wreaths for their hair and the boys made Viking hats to go along with the theme. Guests were taken outside to enjoy a Viking lunch of grilled chicken, corn on the cob, steak fries and coleslaw. A band of ruffians interrupted the luncheon and entertained the families with songs and a puppet show. Scrumptious desserts were offered as a sweet ending to the meal. Afterwards the children and guests made their own lanterns for the festival. Rapunzel and her friends entertained and chatted with the guests and gave lots of hugs and took pictures with everyone. It was truly the “Best Day Ever!” The next Mansion Memories, Magical Day will be in September. We will start taking nominations for families to attend in July. If you would like to nominate a family who is experiencing a crisis, please go to our web site mansionmemories.org and fill out our online form. There are many talented performers, culinary experts, decorators, as well as many more behind the scenes people that volunteer their time to make the magic happen. Mansion Memories is always looking for businesses and volunteers to help donate time and money to continue in making this wonderful event possible for more families. If you would like to be a part of making these dreams a reality, please contact us at: mansionmemoriesmm@gmail.com
