Inaugural Walking with the Council Promotes Health

REDLANDS>> On April 3, Mayor Paul Foster and Mayor Pro Tem Paul Barich kicked off the inaugural "Walking with the Council" event, an offshoot of the Coffee with the Council meetings. Residents who attended the walk at 9 a.m., began at the entrance to the Orange Blossom Trail on Grove Street, between Citrus Avenue and Colton Ave. The change in format was added to promote healthy habits, while bringing exposure to the city's trails. The walk was an opportunity for residents to ask questions and share concerns outside of the formal setting of a City Council meeting. Future walks are set to take place on May 13 at the Orange Blossom Trail, beginning at Redlands BLVD, near California Street. Parking will be available in the Walmart and Food for Less parking lot. Walks are currently scheduled for July, 8, Oct. 14, June 10, Sept. 9 and Dec. 9. Coffee with the Council meetings, which originally started in February of 2011, are still ongoing. The remaining Coffee with the Council meetings are set to take place on June 10 at Stell Coffee & Tea Company, Sept. 9 at Cuca's Mexican Food, and Dec. 9 at Olive Avenue Market. Council members will rotate attendance for both Coffee with the Council and Walking with the Council. No more than two members will attend each meeting.
