REDLANDS>> The City of Redlands Recreation Division recently announced a new class offering at Prospect Park, titled "Creative Movement Exploration Classes for Adults." The classes are taught by Gail Abrams, an instructor for Inner Evolution Yoga in Redlands. The classes are offered from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesdays at the Redlands Carriage House in Prospect Park, 1352 Prospect Drive. The price is $42 for 8 classes or $8 per individual class. Classes combine elements of modern dance technique with creative explorations of movement concepts, such as flow, weight, space and time. Participants will expand kinesthetic awareness, movement vocabulary, body/mind integration and creative expression. No previous dance or movement experience is necessary. For the first session, classes began Jan. 25 and will continue until March 15. The second session will begin March 22 while the third and fourth sessions will be in the summer. According to the Inner Evolution Yoga page, Abrams has been a Professor of Dance and Movement Studies at several colleges over the past 40 years, including 29 years at Scripps College in Claremont, California. Newly retired, the website states that she spent many years as a professional dancer and freelance choreographer on both the east and west coasts. She focused deeply on yoga in 2010 and in 2013 received her RYT-200 Integrative Yoga Teacher Certification through Aloha Yoga Shala in Hawaii.
