Be brave and go bald for childhood cancer or get a hair-cut and style to show your support of these courageous children by participating in the annual Hair Cut-A-Thon hosted by Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California (CCFSC).
The Riverside City College Cosmetology School (4699 Olivewood Avenue, Riverside 92506) will be hosting their 4th Annual Hair Cut-A-Thon and joining in the efforts for the 2nd year is the Alexis Victoria Salon & Spa (5 E Citrus Ave, Redlands 92373).
The event will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m. at both locations.
Haircuts at the RCC Cosmetology School will be done by students with instructor supervision for a minimum donation of $10; Alexis Victoria Salon haircuts will be a donation of $20.
Children who have been diagnosed with cancer will attend the event as “Guest Hair Stylists” to help the stylists shave heads and cut 12” hair donations. Stylists will also be available to cut and style the hair of those that would not like a shaved head but would still like to show their support with a regular cut and style.
All 12” hair donations will be sent to Wigs for Kids, an organization dedicated to providing wigs for children with cancer. Throughout the years, CCFSC has collected over 200 12” hair donations with the support of the community.
A special thank you to Michael Cook, a Ft. Irwin Firefighter, that planted the seed for this event and fundraiser by calling Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California in 2005 and offering to have his head shaved by a child with cancer to show his support of all those fighting this disease.
