On Tuesday Sept. 1, the San Gorgonio Chapter of the Sierra Club will have their monthly meeting at the San Bernardino County Museum, 2024 Orange Tree Lane, Redlands at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to join as Mike and Jan Millspaugh show pictures of their trip to “Costa Rica and Ecuador, Including the Galapagos Islands." The Millspaughs visited Tortuguero, Arenal and Monteverde while in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is known for its progressive environmental policies. Places they saw included rivers, rain forests and an abundance of wildlife and plants. In Ecuador they visited Quito and the Galapagos Islands. Quito is the capital of Ecuador and has an elevation of 9,350 feet; the Galapagos Islands (600 miles west of Ecuador) are considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While there, they enjoyed seeing exotic animals in pristine environments and incredible views.
