Easter Comes Early in Downtown Redlands

It was all fun and games at Ed Helms Park in downtown Redlands on April 12th for the annual Children’s Egg Hunt. In addition to the anticipated egg hunt, this event featured an arts and crafts booth, live musical performances, a bounce house, and a visit from the Easter Bunny himself. These activities were available for families to fully embrace the upcoming holiday. The egg hunt, which was offered to children ages 4-12, was the clear highlight of the event. Dozens of children scrambled to grab plastic eggs, cheered on by their doting parents. Conrad Calbes, a program specialist with the City of Redlands' Quality of Life Department, noted the joy this event brought to the children. “It’s rewarding to see the happy faces of the children engaged in the activities,” expressed Calbes, “it is important to have these family orientated events for the community.” Fellow program specialists, Barbara Gilgan expressed joy in bringing families to the beautiful downtown environment. “Some of these families never come down here," explained Gilgan, “so it’s nice to see families enjoying their time off of work with their children celebrating springtime. You don’t have to spend money to have a good time out with your family.”
