REDLANDS>> An 18-year-old man, in custody on unrelated charges, was arrested Friday, April 14 in connection with a January shooting in downtown Redlands.
Ramon Lopez was one of two men taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence, and evading police, following a Jan. 29 freeway pursuit.
At about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, Redlands Police received reports of shots fired near the intersection of Redlands Boulevard and Orange Street. A man fired several shots into an occupied vehicle parked on Orange Street. No one in the vehicle was injured. Redlands detectives determined that the vehicle stopped by the CHP was the same vehicle seen driving away from the shooting, and Lopez was a suspect in that shooting as well as the robbery of an Uber driver a short time after the shooting. Police arrested Lopez, who was still in custody on the earlier charges, on two charges of attempted murder, robbery, residential burglary and auto theft.
