The 4400 Project will host the community’s third annual Constitution Day to celebrate the signing of the U.S. Constitution. The celebration will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lincoln Memorial Shrine. Admission to the event is free. Live music and other performances will provide entertainment, and food trucks—a new addition to the event—will provide attendees with a plethora of food. A car show will display classic cars from Model Ts to hot rods, and the Kids Corner will present free crafts and face painting, while live art exhibits will showcase artists’ works as they create sculptures and paintings. The event will include representations of Colonial-era entertainment, with performances by the Mountain Fifes and Drums. Attendees can also visit the Sons of the American Revolution encampment and meet General George Washington and James Madison. Games and contests will also provide visitors with the chance to win prizes, and attendees are encouraged to grab a quill pen and add their signatures to the Constitution. Additionally, this year the Lincoln Memorial Shrine will showcase an exhibit that will commemorate the contributions Abraham Lincoln made to the U.S. Constitution. The official celebration of the Constitution takes place nationwide on Sept. 17. On this day in 1787 the Constitutional Convention signed the document, making it the supreme law of the United States. The U.S. Constitution is the longest-lasting, yet shortest written Constitution in the world. Since its creation over 226 years ago, more than 100 countries worldwide have used it as a model for their own constitutions. The Lincoln Memorial Shrine is located at 125 W. Vine St. in Redlands.
