Recently, the community has been invited to listen to Landscape Architect Shelley Sparks, author of Secrets of the Land, Designing Harmonious Gardens with Feng Shui, as she discusses practical, easy, and beautiful additions to your garden and how they can create healing, harmony and beneficial qualities in your lives. Ms. Sparks believes gardens can be more than a haven for you and the wildlife around you. It can actually bring good luck to your life. On October 17, Sparks will teach the community how to ‘Add Luck to Your Garden with Feng Shui' the topic of Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society’s general meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, located 1.3 miles east of the Redlands Mall at 1307 E. Citrus Avenue, then north on Grove Street to the church parking Lot. Door prizes, refreshments and an opportunity to meet the guest speaker are a bonus to the monthly meetings. On Saturday, October 19th, RHIS will hold its Fall Rare and Unusual Plant and Tree Sale. This twice-a-year sale features many varieties of shrubs, perennials, bulbs and hardy annuals for sale, as well as ‘water-wise’ plants for the garden, a large selection of succulents, cacti, several Japanese maples, and a large selection of colorful Salvias. For a complete list of the variety of plants for sale, go to RedlandsGardenClub.com. General garden questions are always welcome. Profits from the sale help fund many community groups and projects. The plant sale will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. RHIS Plant Yard is located in Prospect Park, Redlands, adjacent to the Carriage House (1352 Prospect Dr.). The driveway to the Plant Yard is off Prospect Dr., which is a narrow street leading west from the side intersection where Garden Street joins Cajon Street. Follow the signs to the Carriage House and the RHIS Plant Sale directional signs.
