Construction Continues

REDLANDS >> Intersection construction continues on Orange Blossom Trail. Construction to install stamped concrete where the Orange Blossom Trail intersects with both Nevada Street and Park Avenue, part of the Phase II construction of the Orange Blossom Trail, delayed by rain, is expected to be completed this week and new construction will begin at New Jersey Street. Construction on the two intersections is expected to be completed and the roads reopened by 5 p.m. Friday, April 15. Beginning Monday, April 18, New Jersey Street will be closed at the Orange Blossom Trail in order to install stamped concrete at the intersection. It will remain closed through Friday, April 22. Street closures are necessary in order to construct the intersections and allow for cure time of the stamped concrete. Detours will be in place to direct traffic around the closures. Construction is anticipated to occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. All construction schedules are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. On Dec. 15, 2015, the City Council awarded a construction contract for $692,873 to C.S. Legacy of Pomona. All project costs are grant funded. No General Fund dollars will be used to construct this project. Phase II of the Orange Blossom Trail project will construct an approximately one-mile section of trail from Alabama Street to California Street within San Bernardino County Flood Control right-of-way. In areas where space permits (mostly west of Nevada Street), the Orange Blossom Trail will be a dual track trail, with both a paved trail for fast traffic such as bicycles and a reinforced decomposed granite trail for pedestrian traffic. The overall Orange Blossom Trail is proposed to construct approximately 7.5 miles of trail between Mountain View Avenue and Wabash Avenue in the City of Redlands. Upon completion, the Orange Blossom Trail will link Redlands to regionally significant outdoor areas such as the Santa Ana River Trail. The Orange Blossom Trail Phase II project is managed by the City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department. The City will make a concerted effort to minimize disruptions for residents and businesses in the project area. Traffic control may be installed in the area during construction but is anticipated to be removed daily. Work is anticipated between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
