Senior Center to Host Alzheimer’s Disease Workshop

REDLANDS>> Citizens can enjoy a free breakfast and learn about the causes of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with speakers Dr. Don Anderson and Geneva Labate at the Redlands Community Senior Center’s Alzheimer’s disease workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 22. Anderson is a board certified psychiatrist who has practiced for more than 38 years, lectured extensively on medical topics in the United States and has authored many published articles. Labate is the founder and president of Home Instead Senior Care in Riverside and Redlands for more than 17 years. She holds a BSN, RN, a PHN in nursing and is a Certified Senior Advisor. She very knowledgeable in senior-related issues and educational topics and recently served on the “Purple Task Force” for the City of Riverside, a group aimed to raise the awareness of residents and business owners in the regarding Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Both Anderson and Labate will speak on the topic of Alzheimer’s disease, recognizing the symptoms, discovering how the disease is diagnosed and understanding more about the behaviors that can be caused by the disease. A free breakfast of quiche, fruit, pastry, coffee and juice will be served. The program is free and reservations are recommended as space is limited.
