REDLANDS>> Students from Lugonia and Franklin elementary schools in Redlands, California had the opportunity to travel the world and learn to fly — virtually, that is— at a hands-on geography and Geographic Information Systems camp July 23 at the University of Redlands. Using Esri’s ArcGIS Explorer Online and other applications, students could map their own neighborhoods, explore the history and cultures of five different continents and learn how to fly a drone. The one-day camp was sponsored by the University’s School of Education and supported through the University’s Center for Spatial Studies. The University of Redlands is a private, independent University centrally located from the beaches, mountains and desert in the heart of southern California. Recognized for having one of the highest study abroad participation rates among our peers, Redlands students travel the world, choosing from more than 100 programs. Redlands’ Community Service Learning program receives national acclaim each year as our students complete over 100,000 hours of public service annually around the world. For more information about the event, call 909-748-8857. Th University of Redlands is located at 1200 E Colton Ave., Redlands, California 92373.
